Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo
One of Rizal's most famous literary works Noli Me Tangere tackled the social issues the Philippines had in the hands of Spain. It mainly shows how the Friars ran the country and how they were more powerful than the government itself. It showed issues like corruption, racial discrimination, the land grabbing of the friars and how human rights were violated by the Spaniards. This novel was inspired by the martyrdom of the GomBurZa. Three Filipino priests namely, Gomez, Burgos and Zamora who were killed by the Spaniards for fighting for the rights of the Filipino priests. Rizal was just 11 years old when he witnessed this happening which triggered him to write his very first novel. This novel was almost not allowed to be studied and read by the people of today's generation because it was not permitted by the church. They said that most of the parts of this novel were immoral and offensive to the catholic faith the same goes to Rizal's second novel El Filibusterismo which talks about the same things.
Noli and Fili: From novel to different adaptations
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo was written by Jose Rizal as novels. They have lots of pages and had very deep words. And don't get me wrong they're great novels written by one of the greatest man that has ever lived but all those words and symbolisms are kinda hard to understand for some people. So people have come up with versions that are easier to understand and has more color which a lot of people find it more enjoyable and easier to read. It has pictures and colors and the words used are not that complicated to understand and even though those are not the original words the meaning of the novel isn't changed.
